Base Building vs. Tennant Security

Many new tenants of office buildings mistakenly think that they have to use the base building security vendor for their individual tenant security needs. This is typically untrue. Base building controls are the doors, elevators and gates that are controlled and managed by the building management company and are in common areas accessed by multiple tenants. When a tenant signs a lease within a building, the building management typical issues a card for each employee to access the base building controlled areas. The main concern for a tenant is to maintain the use of a single card to access base building controls as well as the tenant controlled spaces. Varia will test the base building card to determine the exact card technology and bit format in order to provide a seamless transition to the tenant space. Varia will install a new independent, access control system that uses the same access cards issued by building management, but is controlled by the tenant within their space. This allows the tenant to add/delete users, run activity reports, and manage time zones and access levels. The same concept applies to access cards that the tenant wishes to use between multiple offices. Varia has successfully completed this base building/tenant integration throughout multiple locations in MD, DC and VA.

What our clients say

"I cannot thank you enough for your help yesterday, but let me try. After working a full eight-hour day, two of your techs agreed to work late to help me out. They are a credit to your company and their professional work ethic is beyond reproach."
